Job overview
The IQIPS Accreditation Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership, programme management and specialist quality improvement expertise for the development, implementation and maintenance of the Improving Quality in Physiological Services (IQIPS) accreditation programme across Cardiology and Respiratory Healthcare Sciences at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust and associated Community Diagnostic Centres.
The post holder will lead the multi-site delivery of the IQIPS accreditation programme, ensuring services achieve and sustain UKAS accreditation through the implementation of robust governance arrangements, quality management systems, audit programmes and continuous service improvement initiatives. Acting as the Trust's specialist adviser for IQIPS accreditation, the post holder will work autonomously to develop accreditation strategies, resolve complex governance and quality issues, and provide expert advice to senior clinical and managerial staff.
The role is responsible for leading organisational change across multiple clinical services, embedding accreditation standards into routine practice and ensuring compliance with national quality standards across the domains of patient experience, clinical practice, workforce, facilities, safety and governance.
This role will be based in Newmarket CDC however, will be expected to travel between sites (West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust) as and when required.
Main duties of the job
- Lead the IQIPS accreditation programme across Cardiology and Respiratory .
- Develop and manage accreditation plans, ensuring key milestones, deadlines and objectives are achieved.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and work across organisational and professional boundaries.
- Develop and maintain governance frameworks, policies, SOPs and quality management systems.
- Monitor compliance with IQIPS standards through structured audit and quality assurance programmes.
- Identify and manage risks, gaps and barriers that could prevent accreditation being achieved.
- Lead quality improvement and service development, ensuring audit findings result in measurable improvements.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance to clinical and operational teams on accreditation and quality requirements.
- Engage and influence senior stakeholders, including clinicians, managers, governance groups and external accreditation bodies.
- Provide reporting, assurance and performance information to senior management, while supporting teams through training, change and continuous improvement.
The post holder will establish and maintain effective relationships with senior clinicians, operational managers, corporate departments and external accreditation organisations, influencing practice, securing engagement and facilitating organisational change to deliver sustainable improvements in patient care, service quality and operational performance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Programme and Project Management
- Provide strategic leadership for the multi-site IQIPS accreditation programme across Cardiology and Respiratory Healthcare Sciences.
- Develop, implement and maintain the accreditation programme, ensuring delivery within agreed timescales and national standards.
- Lead complex programmes involving multiple workstreams, monitoring risks, dependencies, milestones and organisational priorities.
- Develop programme plans, performance indicators and reporting frameworks to ensure delivery of accreditation objectives.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across organisational boundaries to deliver programme outcomes.
Governance and Service Development
- Lead the development, implementation and continuous review of governance frameworks, policies, standard operating procedures and quality management systems required to achieve and maintain IQIPS accreditation.
- Develop new governance processes where required and ensure accreditation standards are embedded into routine operational practice.
- Recommend and implement service improvements arising from accreditation assessments, audits and quality reviews.
- Influence service redesign and organisational development to ensure long-term compliance with national accreditation standards.
Quality Improvement and Audit
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive audit programme to monitor compliance with IQIPS standards.
- Analyse complex quality, governance and performance information to identify risks, trends, gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead service evaluation, quality improvement initiatives and continuous improvement programmes across Physiological Sciences.
- Ensure findings from audits and reviews are translated into measurable service improvements.
Communication and Stakeholder Management
- Communicate highly complex, sensitive and occasionally contentious information to consultants, senior managers, multidisciplinary teams and external accreditation bodies.
- Present complex reports and assurance updates to Senior Management Teams, Clinical Governance Committees and other Trust governance groups.
- Negotiate agreement on service changes, influence decision-making and secure engagement from stakeholders where resistance to change may exist.
- Act as the principal point of contact for IQIPS accreditation within the Trust.
Leadership and Workforce Development
- Provide professional leadership and specialist advice on IQIPS accreditation, governance and quality improvement.
- Support service managers and clinical leaders in implementing organisational change programmes.
- Design, facilitate and deliver specialist education and training relating to accreditation standards, governance processes and quality management systems.
- Coach and support multidisciplinary teams to embed continuous quality improvement within routine practice.
Financial and Resource Management
- Ensure the effective and efficient use of programme resources to deliver accreditation objectives.
- Contribute to financial planning, resource allocation and business planning associated with accreditation delivery.
- Identify opportunities for service efficiencies and improved value for money while maintaining compliance with accreditation standards.
Information and Performance Management
- Develop and maintain robust systems for recording, monitoring and reporting accreditation performance.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity and security of accreditation documentation, audit records and Quality Management System information.
- Produce complex performance reports, dashboards and assurance documentation for senior management and governance committees.
Risk Management
- Act as the Trust Lead for IQIPS accreditation risks.
- Identify, assess and manage strategic and operational risks associated with accreditation.
- Develop mitigation plans and monitor implementation to ensure compliance with organisational governance arrangements.
Person specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent experience in Quality Improvement, Project Management, Healthcare Management, Clinical Governance or a related discipline.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience in quality improvement, healthcare leadership, project/programme management or change management
- 4 GCSE’s with equivalent A-C qualifications and relevant A Level in health and social care (equivalent experiences considered)
- Demonstrable knowledge of quality management systems, clinical governance frameworks and healthcare improvement methodologies.
Desirable criteria
- Relevant change, project and / or programme management qualifications such as Prince2, MSP, Six Sigma, Lean etc
- Knowledge of UKAS accreditation processes or experience of accreditation frameworks.
Experience and knowledge

- Experience of leading quality improvement, accreditation, governance or service transformation programs within a healthcare environment.
- Extensive experience of service transformation, design and development.
