MSK X-Ray Reporting Radiographer

NHS AfC: Band 7

Job overview

We are seeking qualified MSK X-Ray reporting Radiographers to join our developing reporting radiographer team. Applications may also be accepted from experienced Radiographers who are seeking a development opportunity and are willing to undertake the required training to gain a reporting qualification.

You will be based at the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Newmarket where you will be required to participate in the management of the clinical workload as well as reporting. You will have access to brand new technology and a quiet, protected reporting workspace.

Please note: If you are recruited as a trainee reporting Radiographer you will be paid at AfC band 6 throughout the training period (approximately 12-18 months) and will move to band 7 upon successful completion of post-graduate qualification, achievement of required competencies and approval to report autonomously. There will be a requirement to attend ad-hoc training days at the West Suffolk Hospital site throughout the training period.

The working hours of the post will be Monday to Friday 0900 – 1700. However, the department will be working towards extended days (0800 – 2000) and 7-day working in the near future.

If you feel you meet the essential criteria in the person specification or would be willing to complete the required training to achieve this, and you are committed to delivering excellent patient care and a high-quality service then this could be the ideal opportunity for you.

Main duties of the job

Undertake MSK x-ray reporting in line with departmental protocols. You will be expected to participate in the planning, organisation, leadership and management of the x-ray and MSK reporting service.

Play an integral role in delivering the x-ray service, working clinically when required.

Maintain an interest in the profession and knowledge of new techniques and protocols, attending courses where necessary, in line with service demand. Continue a personal development plan with guidance from the appraisal system, updating knowledge in specialist area.

Participate in the training program in place for radiography students and on occasions other students, from school leavers to junior doctors. Assist and guide more junior and/or newly qualified Radiographer Reporting Practitioners. Provide regular lectures/training to enhance radiographers’ learning for their CPD.
