Job overview
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Specialty Doctor to join us in the department of CAMHS, in our Northeast Hampshire locality, where you’ll provide essential clinical input and leadership within a supportive, forward‑thinking team.
This role is more than just clinical delivery, it’s about shaping services, mentoring colleagues, and driving innovation in line with New Ways of Working. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, commissioners, and Trust managers to ensure services are safe, effective, and patient‑focused.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role are to work with consultant colleagues and local managers to develop safe, clinically effective, cost-effective service in Surrey.
The post holder will be expected to work constructively with SABP Trust managers (including the Associate Medical Director), work with local commissioners, and deliver and develop a strategy to ensure that the Trust remains the provider of choice for liaison services.
The post holder will also be expected to develop leadership capability aligned with the Trust approach to leadership development for all staff.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent recognised medical qualification.
- Full medical registration with a license to practice.
- Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
- Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills.
Eligibiltiy
Essential criteria
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of legislation, Department of Health Guidance and literature and its implications for clinical practice.
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
- Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
- Make decisions based on evidence and experience, including the contribution of others
- Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA
- Experience working with various patient groups presenting with the full range of clinical severity across different care settings, including community, inpatient, and specialist teams.
- Knowledge of psychiatric provision
Desirable criteria
- Specific training qualification/certificate or attendance on a recognised teaching course.
- Published audit or research projects
Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning
Essential criteria
- Ability to take a clinical leadership role in a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality care.
- Ability to appraise own performance as a Speciality Doctor and reflect on development needs
