Job overview

The post holder will provide essential administrative and clerical support to the Radiology Department, with responsibilities that involve direct interaction with patients. This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of weekend services by managing patient flow, maintaining accurate records, and handling data entry using the EPIC and ICE computer systems.

The position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a patient-focused approach. The working hours are Saturdays and Sundays, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide an efficient and effective service to both patients and other staff
  • Maintain a customer care approach at all times.
  • Support the introduction of Government, Trust, and Departmental quality and business initiatives.
  • Actively encourage feedback as part of the departmental quality initiative
  • Maintain the high standards of the department by contributing towards individual and team objectives
  • Maintain good communication and relationships with a number of stakeholders including patients and other users of the service
  • Convey factual information to patients, including children re: examinations;
  • To input patient details accurately into Radiology Information System EPIC .
  • Deal with telephone enquiries from the public in a discreet manner with empathy and sensitivity.
  • Liaise with GP practices, hospital staff and other associated agencies internally and externally of the Trust in a polite and courteous manner taking action where appropriate and passing information promptly to the appropriate staff.

  • Participate in departmental meetings.

  • Act as mentor and trainer for new staff and support induction programme
  • Participate in annual appraisal system
  • Be the face of our department by being the first point of contact for patients coming in to use our services.
