Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a proactive Deputy Business Support Accountant to join our dedicated finance team. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to support and deputise for the Business Support Accountant while working closely with senior finance colleagues to manage a substantial financial portfolio of approximately £150 million annually.
About You:

Qualified accountant or equivalent with strong experience in financial management within healthcare or a similarly complex environment.

Proven ability to work independently, with excellent decision-making and organisational skills.

Strong analytical capabilities with the confidence to present and discuss financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues.

Experience of managing or deputising a small finance team is desirable.

A proactive approach to continuous improvement and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Main duties of the job
About the Role:
As Deputy Business Support Accountant, you will provide vital financial and performance management support across the Community and Older People Medical (OPM) directorates. You will collaborate with budget holders, senior teams, and operational management to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting and support strategic decision-making.
Your role will be essential in coordinating the delivery of financial information, monitoring speciality performance, supporting Cost Improvement Plans (CIPs), and helping to drive service improvements. You will also deputise for the Business Support Accountant, including supervising the wider finance team when required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing:

Deliver expert financial advice and support to budget managers within Community and Older People services, aiding them in optimising resource use.

Prepare and present monthly financial and performance management reports to senior teams, ensuring data accuracy and adherence to deadlines.

Monitor financial performance against targets, analysing variances and operational impacts, and advising on corrective actions.

Initiate and lead budget reviews in response to operational changes, engaging closely with budget holders.

Provide comprehensive costing and financial analysis to support business case development and decision-making.

Assist with the coordination and monitoring of CIPs, identifying potential savings and service improvement opportunities.

Foster strong relationships with senior management, budget holders, and external auditors to support the Trust’s financial governance.
