Speciality Doctor - Knee Fellow
NHS Medical & Dental: Specialty Doctor
Job overview
This post is a one-year Fellowship to start as soon as possible in 2025
Designed to provide skills and competencies above and beyond what is currently required to obtain a CCT in the relevant surgical specialty.
We manage a complete range of knee surgery, both elective and trauma, including primary and revision arthroplasty, patella-femoral replacement, unicondylar knee replacement, periarticular knee osteotomy, as well as arthroscopic surgery including ligament reconstruction and patellofemoral stabilisation surgery.
Main duties of the job
The programme has been designed to include a supervised new patient knee clinic, and operating theatre sessions with exposure to open and arthroscopic surgery. It is supported by educational meetings and relevant research.
The timetable is predominantly supervised, but there is also opportunity for independent operating. There is enough flexibility to ensure maximisation of training opportunities.
In addition, the Fellow will attend dedicated radiology meetings, arthroplasty meetings and the departmental education and audit programs.
