Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children, St Helier Hospital
Epsom & St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, rated ‘Good’ by the CQC, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Consultant Community Paediatrician with a special interest in Neurodevelopment to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term locum basis. This role is based primarily at Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children, St Helier site, providing vital community paediatric services across the London Boroughs of Merton and Sutton.
This locum post offers 10 PA and focuses on delivering comprehensive clinical care in community paediatrics, with a particular emphasis on neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, global developmental delay, motor coordination disorder, and complex neurodisability. The role includes managing clinics for children with special educational needs and those looked after by the local authority.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Assessment and management of neurodevelopmental conditions, including ASD in under 5s.

Support in educational paediatrics, including report writing for Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNA).

Medicals for looked after children and involvement in safeguarding and child protection.

Contribution to referral triage and junior doctor teaching sessions.

Registered with the GMC and on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCT.

Demonstrable experience in community paediatrics with a special interest in neurodevelopment.

Safeguarding level 3 training desirable.

Strong communication skills and commitment to multidisciplinary, patient-centered care.
