About Us:
Epsom & St. Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust, rated ‘Good’ by the CQC, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Consultant Community Paediatrician with a special interest in Neurodevelopment to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term locum basis. This role is based primarily at Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children, St Helier site, providing vital community paediatric services across the London Boroughs of Merton and Sutton.
The Role:
This locum post offers 10 PA and focuses on delivering comprehensive clinical care in community paediatrics, with a particular emphasis on neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, global developmental delay, motor coordination disorder, and complex neurodisability. The role includes managing clinics for children with special educational needs and those looked after by the local authority.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team including consultants, associate specialists, specialist trainees, and clinical nurse specialists. There are no on-call commitments unless desired, and flexible working arrangements are welcome.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessment and management of neurodevelopmental conditions, including ASD in under 5s.
  • Support in educational paediatrics, including report writing for Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNA).
  • Medicals for looked after children and involvement in safeguarding and child protection.
  • Contribution to referral triage and junior doctor teaching sessions.
  • Please refer to attached JD for details and proposed Job Plan. 
Person Specification:
  • Registered with the GMC and on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCT.
  • Demonstrable experience in community paediatrics with a special interest in neurodevelopment.
  • Safeguarding level 3 training desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to multidisciplinary, patient-centered care.
