Job overview
We are looking to recruit an excellent clinician to join our paediatric team based within the Queen Mary’s Children’s Hospital and working alongside our colleagues based in the Adult Audiology department at St Helier Hospital.
Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust Audiology department is committed to providing the highest quality services to the population we serve. We have modern facilities and are a committed and motivated team. The team is multidisciplinary and consists of paediatric audiologists, clinical scientists Consultant Audio-Vestibular Physicians, assistant audiologists, and Hearing therapists. The team is supported by a strong administrative team.
We provide diagnosis, treatment planning and hearing aid fitting for babies and children of all ages. There is close liaison with the Newborn Hearing Screening Programme, Paediatric ENT, Sensory Support Service, Speech and Language Therapy services and the Hearing Implant Programme.
You will have a BSc or MSc in Audiology or CAC qualification or equivalent.
Main duties of the job
To oversee the provision of the full range of audio-vestibular clinical diagnostic tests and provide factual interpretative reports as required
Participation in the diagnostic testing of NHSP referrals.
Paediatric ABR testing including sedated ABR and those conducted under general anaesthetic
Leadership or managerial
Provide leadership and supervision in relevant areas of expertise.
Provide annual appraisal opportunities for all staff in the team .To provide training in a clinic setting for medical students, junior doctors and other staff as required.
To have lead responsibility for the paediatric service. Organise and chair the CHSWG and nuture engagement with various external partners.
Service improvement & Policy Development
Undertake an active role in research and development into improved procedures, tests and equipment for Audiological services, including liaising with local, national and international organisations to develop creative and innovative improvements in Audiological services for patients.Participate in clinical audit.
Communications and Engagement
To communicate with internal and external partners including Directorate management SWL and Pan London networks. Participate in the Trust’s Clinical Governance, Health and Safety and Risk Management policies and plans, and help monitor compliance and implementation within the Service area. Participate in the implementation of all Trust policies and procedures and guidelines.
