FY2 in Renal Medicine - Fixed Term Contract 
Full Time

2 Month fixed term contract until Aug 2026 with an immediate start. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic doctor at FY2 level to join the Renal Medicine team at Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

This post offers an excellent opportunity for a doctor wishing to enhance their CV and gain experience in Renal Medicine. The post holder will be ward based during the normal working day and expected to deliver the daily medical care of all the patients on their ward. Out of hours, the successful candidate  will be involved with the generic clerking of patients being admitted and the ongoing care of the patients on Renal wards throughout the hospital, as well as being part of the crash team.

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is a large acute Trust serving South West London and Surrey. It comprises two Acute Hospitals: Epsom General Hospital and St Helier Hospital; Queen Mary’s Hospital for Children; Elective Orthopaedic Hospital (EOC) and a Private Patient Unit. There is a tertiary Renal Unit serving South West London, Surrey and parts of Hampshire. Our hospitals are busy and dynamic and the specialties offered are led by keen and enthusiastic consultants.

 

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Day to day management of medical inpatients.
  • Manage time and clinical priorities effectively
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and colleagues
  • Participation in the on call rota and to provide cover in exceptional circumstances for colleagues’ absence.
  • Assessment, care and treatment of patients presenting to the specialty and referred to the speciality.
  • Participation in relevant audit and quality assurance processes.
  • Abide by the Clinical & Corporate Governance policies of the Trust.
  • To make sure that the guidance from the General Medical Council on Good Medical Practice is at the centre of your clinical practice.
  • Keep clinical knowledge up to date by continuous medical education in the best interest of the patient.
  • Although a timetable will be provided, you will be expected to be flexible, in the interests of patient care and to meet the needs of the department as decided by the general manager and coordinating surgeon manner at all time

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full registration with GMC registration
  • At least 12 months post graduate experience working as a doctor
Desirable criteria
  • 6 months NHS experience in Renal

Language

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements
