Job overview

We currently have full-time and part-time vacancies for Housekeeping Assistants.

The role is to provide an effective and efficient cleaning & food service within the wards and departments.

To ensure the highest standards of service at all times.

Main duties of the job

  • To ensure all aspects of health and safety, food hygiene, COSHH, Infection Control and relevant regulations are strictly adhered to.
  • To ensure compliance with all aspects of Health and Safety legislation and the correct use of personal protective equipment.
  • To ensure wards and departments are maintained free from excessive refuse and kept tidy and presentable at all times.
  • To remove and re-hang curtains, ensuring curtains are correctly bagged and labelled for transport to the Laundry area or disposed of appropriately.
  • To report all maintenance issues and hazards to your Team Leader or the Housekeeping Supervisor.
  • To comply with departmental & Trust personal hygiene policy/procedures at all times.
  • To prepare cutlery, crockery and trays ready for patient meal times, collect, wash and put away all cutlery, crockery and trays after patient meal times.
  • To wash and replenish all water jugs, clean patient tables after each service and if required during the day.
  • To maintain the cleanliness of the ward kitchen before, during and after patient meal service.
  • To serve the patient beverage service including snacks as required and ensure the ward kitchen is clean, items in date and stock rotated.
  • To monitor/ record refrigerator temperatures and defrost refrigerators as and when required.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing service needs when required.
