We  have an exciting new B7 occupational therapy  role in  our Forensic team in Surrey!

The Forensic Outreach Liaison Service is dedicated to supporting individuals with complex needs who have engaged in offending behaviour, helping them build hopeful, meaningful lives through recovery-focused mental health interventions. The occupational therapy leadership team is committed to an extensive, coordinated CPD programme including supervision, care group and trust wide training, core competence training, and annual conferences.

Main duties of the job

Job Overview

     To provide compassionate and effective leaderships to junior staff including support staff and therapy assistants

     To strengthen and actively contribute to the overall leadership of the service

     To communicate effectively with a range of clinicians, managers, directors, associate directors, people who access services, carers/supporters/family members, stakeholders, and agencies.

     To assess and contribute to the formulation and diagnosis of individuals referred to the Forensic Outreach and Liaison Service.

     To provide high quality and evidence -based occupational therapy assessment intervention and consultation to people with complex needs who access services and their carers/supporters/family members, in line with occupational therapy and service pathways

     To provide supervision and mentoring to occupational therapists within the occupational therapy service.

     To ensure the delivery of occupational therapy student placements.

     To actively contribute to the continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities within the wider occupational therapy service.

     Supporting the team managers and clinical leads in the development and delivery of effective services.

     To provide an audit of occupational therapy services within the directorate an to link in with local, regional, and national occupational therapy networks

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Occupational therapy professional Qualification
  • A driving license suitable for driving in the United Kingdom
Desirable criteria
  • Additional academic clinical qualification relevant to area of work
  • Clinical Supervision training/experience
  • Leadership training or relevant leadership experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Extensive and relevant post qualification experience with people who have complex needs.
  • • Experience of leading clinical practice service development or project work
  • • Extensive experience of applying occupational frames of reference and approaches
  • • Highly specialist knowledge of relevant assessment and treatment models
  • • Demonstrates evidence of highly effective clinical reasoning skills
  • • Evidence of interest and skills in specialist area
  • • Experience of providing supervision
  • • Experience of supporting students on placement
  • • Experience of representing occupational therapy within a service and Trust
