Would you like an opportunity to join our exciting and innovative Specialist Substance Misuse Service? I-access is seen as a forward thinking and innovative service. It has been a high performing service for many years and has remained in the NHS since it started over 3 decades ago. Main duties of the job

We have a 2 Fixed Term Contract posts for 24 months, available to work as part of our i-access Family Safeguarding Team (FST).  1 post will cover the NW of Surrey and the other post will cover SW and East Surrey. You will have 2 years experience in Substance Misuse and mental health with knowledge, skills and experience of Safeguarding Children.

The successful candidates will be enthusiastic, committed to working with people with substance misuse problems and supporting them towards improving their health and wellbeing in their recovery from addiction. There is a strong focus on the Think Family agenda and treatment is delivered on several treatment pathways.  The role consists of providing clinical interventions including OST prescription management, alcohol interventions,  BBVC testing and vaccination for those parents who have complex needs including pregnancy, mental and physical health issues who have moderate alcohol problems.

You will also be a point of contact for Social Work colleagues if Key Workers are unavailable.

This role comprises of offering high quality evidence based interventions in line with treatment pathways.   

You will work closely alongside Children’s Social Workers and FST multi-disciplinary teams who meet regularly for group supervisions, Core Group Meetings, Child in Need Meetings, Child Protection Conferences and others.  The majority of FST appointments are home visits, with occasional appointments in SCC/SABP bases.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Suitable for someone who is a professional, dynamic and experienced clinician and has excellent complex risk management and crisis intervention skills in a fast moving environment, adaptable and can meet the needs of Service User’s  establishing strong professional supportive relationships. Successful candidate will have excellent skills knowledge and experience in substance misuse and experience of working with parents in treatment. To work and act appropriately on own initiative within a multi-disciplinary team and has the skills to utilise knowledge, skills and experience to deliver a high standard of evidence based clinical interventions.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse Qualification
  • Degree qualification in health related subject ie Social Work / Occupational Therapist
Desirable criteria
  • Post Graduate Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 2 years in Substance Misuse / Mental Health
  • Excellent standard of Mental Health and Substance Misuse knowledge, skills and experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Sound knowledge of working with OST clients and managing prescriptions
  • Experience of facilitating groups
