Job overview

The Pharmacy at St Peter’s Hospital have an exciting opportunity for a friendly and well organised individual to join our department as a Pharmacy Storekeeper.

We are a busy Pharmacy department and your role will involve you supporting the Pharmacy team by receiving and processing deliveries into the Pharmacy stores.

You will be working in a team alongside another Pharmacy Storekeper as well as Pharmacy Assistants, Senior Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists. The core working hours are 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills to be able to effectively work alongside staff of all grades throughout the Hospital. You will be hard working and keen to learn and have the ability to prioritise work.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists by receiving and unloading all deliveries to Pharmacy including bulk pallet deliveries of IV fluids and feeds whilst ensuring the security of the goods at all times. You will be expected to enter delivery details onto the pharmacy computer operating system while maintaining good stock control throughout the Pharmacy stores to minimise wastage.

You will carry out your duties supervised by qualified staff and contribute to the development of pharmacy services. You will promote the highest of standards of professional practice, whilst observing at all times the “statement on professional Conduct” issued by the GPhC.

You will be required to follow all legal and departmental practices including Standard Operating procedures (SOPs) as well as COSHH and lifting and handling regulations and all Trust Policies and Procedures.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• To receive and unload all deliveries to Pharmacy including bulk pallet deliveries of IV fluids and feeds whilst ensuring the security of the goods at all times.
• To unpack and check all goods received against the order and the delivery note to ensure that the correct goods have been delivered in the correct quantities to the correct location.
• To enter delivery details onto the pharmacy operating system to ensure accurate stock control including batch numbers and product expiry dates.
• To ensure that the filing systems in stores are kept up to date and in good order so that paperwork can be located easily when required.
• To liaise with Pharmacy staff regarding delivery of goods, particularly deliveries marked urgent or for the attention of a specific member off staff.
• To bring to the attention of the Distribution Manager and the Purchasing Manager all discrepancies on goods received.
• To deal with discrepancies on wholesaler orders by reporting incorrect and short deliveries using wholesaler return paperwork. 
• To store stock in the correct location ensuring stock is rotated according to the expiry date.
• To maintain good stock control throughout the Pharmacy Stores to minimise wastage.
• To maintain all stores in accordance with health and safety and fire safety requirements.
• To take the lead on loading the automated dispensing system including ensuring short dated stock is loaded with the correct expiry details.
• To read and adhere to the Trust’s and Pharmacy’s Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.
• To attend Mandatory Trust training and educational study days.
• To be responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy work area
