Job overview
ESTH Trust are looking for Apprentice Estates Electrical Technicians to work in Property maintenance at a AFC Band 5 ( Annex 21 )- 37.5 hours a week.
3 years apprenticeship depending on a start date.
Salary details;
This role will be required to work trust-wide across Epsom, ST Helier Hospitals,
· The duties include training to become a electrical technician capable of highly complex fault finding and maintenance on all aspects of engineering plant and equipment throughout the Trust.
· The duties must be carried out within stringent timescales and within statutory guidelines.
· The post holder will have day to day contact with the internal and external stakeholders regarding sensitive, complex and confidential issues.
· They will present verbal, written and numerical issues, explaining complexities, to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
· To provide stakeholders updates and potential disruptions, to organise planned shutdowns.

Main duties of the job

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Technical
· carry out planned preventative maintenance
·
· To fault find on complex Air Handling Units and Refrigeration Plant, and to carry out regular, Planned Preventative Maintenance when required
Information and reporting
• Responsible as part of the local team for the information upkeep of the CAFM
• To investigate incidents and report back into the management structure.
• To produce engineering reports where requested, for safety groups and trust committees as example
Technology or system support
• Be conversant with the CAFM via handheld PDA system
• Be conversant with BMS and Bold systems
Communications and Engagement
• Provide and receive complex information to managers and end users
• Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information
• Communicates technical project related information with other professionals, both internal and external personnel, including senior managers, directors, to ensure that work undertaken conforms to all statutory and HTM requirements.
• To work effectively with relative services within the trusts to ensure that due process and governance is followed in the delivery of additional works
General responsibilities
• To support the department and organisation by carrying out any other duties that reasonably fit within the broad scope of a job of this grade and type of work.
• Assist visitors, patients and staff during incidental contact
• When required assist in grievances and disciplinary issues
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- C&G, NVQ or similar in a mechanical discipline
Desirable criteria
- • CPD in line management • HNC/HND in an engineering discipline • Competent person in specialist subject such as safe water • Time served apprenticeship
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Experience of working with advanced plumbing and/or mechanical systems. • Fault finding on mechanical with skills to isolate, keep running and fully repair. • Experience of delivering safe water services tasks, temperature monitoring, cleaning and chlorination of taps/TMV’s and falt finding on systems.
Desirable criteria
- • To have experience in working within healthcare premises • Working with a PDA installed with CAFM, MICAD and Zetasafe .
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • To have sound knowledge of mechanical systems. • In depth knowledge of the HaSaWA and other relevant acts, standards and guidance notes • To have an understanding of permit to work systems, risk assessments and good working practices.
Desirable criteria
- • To have a sound knowledge in HTM, and HBNs • To have a basic understanding of asset management (PPM and reactive tasks, SFG 20)

- • To have the ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications • :You have knowledge & awareness of diversity and human rights as appropriate to your role • You are able to communicate effectively to ensure high standards of care, treatment, service or support as appropriate to your role, • Able to provide a customer focussed service • Strong team and personal organisational and time management skills to manage competing priorities and deadlines, to act from individuals to large groups • To be able to work effectively in a fast paced environment ensuring all paperwork, drawings and reports are correct.
Desirable criteria
- • To be qualified and certificated in IOSH Management; • Ability to analyses complex problems and to develop and workable solutions to address them.
