Job overview

The post holder will provide assistance and support to trained (and trainee theatre personnel performing a wide range of tasks/duties in the Operating Dept.

The post holder will work at all times in a manner that complies with Health & Safety Regulations, local, policies, and ensure that the confidentiality of individual patients is maintained.

Preparation of theatre trolleys, ensuring that they are clean and restocked, and that oxygen is available at all times.

Transfer of patients to and from wards and other clinical areas in accordance with local policy, communicating effectively with all members of the multi disciplinary team and ensuring patients confidentially at all times.

Assist in maintenance of supplies by checking stock levels, putting away stores, etc. ensuring proper rotation and checking of expiry dates

Collect blood for elective lists and emergencies and return all unused blood and blood products to the blood bank.

Tidy changing rooms and dispose of used linen appropriately with local policy to prevent cross infection and other hazards occurring ensuring appropriate bags are replaced.

Clean and decontaminate theatre furniture, including the operating table attachments, operating lights, diathermy and suction apparatus etc

Dispose of soiled linen and refuse in accordance with local policy to prevent cross infection and other hazards occurring, ensuring appropriate bags are replaced.

We have a number of  excellent opportunities for  Theatre Aide/ Healthcare Assistants to join our busy operating theatre teams.

The successful candidates will be part of a friendly team committed to providing patients with an exemplary level of care.

Your day to day activities will be to support the qualified practitioners.

You must have a flexible approach to work and be able to work shift patterns including evenings and weekends.

We will provide in house training and will also give you the opportunity to undertake academic studies to further your career.
