Job overview

Applications are invited for an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant Radiologist with a subspeciality in Gastrointestinal Imaging at Frimley Health. This is a new post which will support increasing service demand, workload commitments and reporting requirements.

We are offering an opportunity to join an established and pro-active team to respond to our growing service.

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is looking to expand GI imaging services with the post mainly based at Frimley Park Hospital.

The successful applicant will provide a full range of GI radiology including CT, MRI, plain film and ultrasound and fluoroscopy. Specialist ultrasound ability with inflammatory bowel disease, endorectal and endoanal US will be required. The postholder would support specialist Rectal cancer surgical and Inflammatory Bowel Disease services and the ability to lead Specialist Colorectal and IBD MDTs will be essential.  Participation in and reporting contribution to other subspeciality multidisciplinary team meetings would also be welcomed. The successful candidate would participate in the diagnostic oncall rota.

The post will be based at Frimley Park Hospital but may require sessions based at Wexham Park and Heatherwood Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

To provide a comprehensive Gastrointestinal Imaging Service and to support the general Radiology workload of the department including the oncall service.

The basis of the post is 10 programmed activities including ultrasound, fluoroscopy, cold reporting, acute imaging reporting and clinicoradiological GI and non-GI MDTs.  Participation in the Frimley Park Hospital weekend / overnight diagnostic Radiology rota occurs on a 1 in 16 basis. Non-clinical responsibilities include active participation in governance and medical audit. SPA time will also be provided for continuing professional development and fulfilling the required commitment for appraisal and revalidation.
