This is a fantastic opportunity for a dietitian with a strong clinical background and leadership capabilities to step into a senior role, leading on a renal clinical area, representing nutrition in oral and hydration forums, and supporting dietitians in complex feeding decisions for oral and enteral nutrition. This post will also involve providing expert nutritional care to patients with complex needs, leading service development initiatives, and contributing to operational planning and quality improvement projects.

Our department values each individual within the team by supporting wellbeing, personal development and regular supervision, which creates a supportive team environment. We have a focus on encouraging continued professional development by providing internal and external opportunities for learning.
Main duties of the job
- Key clinical area for autonomous clinical practice will be within renal services, providing assessment and dietetic input for renal inpatients who are referred for nutrition support or enteral feeding.
- The post holder will act as a departmental resource to assist staff members dealing with renal patients elsewhere in the hospital and provide dietary advice to those starting dialysis, linking with the St Helier renal team to ensure a smooth transition and patient pathway.
- Support the integration of the Dietetic Assistant Practitioner framework across the services, ensuring evidence-based practices are consistently applied.
- Contribute to the operational plans that enhance service delivery, patient care and departmental efficiency.
- Lead investigations into nutrition-related complaints and incidents, analysing root causes and implementing corrective actions to improve patient safety and service quality.
- Participate in the Trust’s oral and hydration forum, sharing best practices, developing guidelines and promoting initiatives to improve patient nutrition and hydration.
- Lead on complex oral and enteral feeding decisions within medical directorate and provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior dietitians.
