Job overview
Applicants are invited to apply for the role of Simulation fellow in Frimley Emergency Department. The role is 75% clinical and 25% non-clinical. We are looking for doctors to start August 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for doctors to maintain clinical work but also have time in their schedules dedicated to areas of interest to them. We see this as a way of sustainable working whilst also building on CVs and experience.
Study leave: 18 days (10 days general study leave, 5 days private study leave, 3 days for exams or interviews). Study budget: £650 per year.
The emergency medicine rota will include evening, night, weekend and bank holiday working. LTFT enquiries are welcome.
Applicants must have a minimum of 24 months experience working as a doctor in the NHS. This advert is open to ST1-2 and ST3-5 applicants.
Main duties of the job
- To attend the Trust simulation faculty training
- To organise and run simulation teaching for the emergency department staff and medical students
- To run simulation both in the sim suite and in-situ
- To write simulation scenarios and write new scenarios to add to the trust's simulation bank
- To learn the technical skills involved in running simulation
- To deliver ‘Sim Clinic’ minimum every 4-6 weeks – a simulation session available for any clinicians to sign up to. We would particularly like you to use this simulation training to help support those returning to work after a period of absence, for those new to the NHS and those preparing for exams

To run ‘Lightning Sim’ in the department (short in situ sim training)
- To work with the trust simulation fellows to support each other’s training days and to share ideas and learning
- To promote multi-disciplinary learning
- To work with your supervisor to ensure that the work is beneficial to the department and to support you in meeting your learning goals
- To supervise medical students whilst on placement in the ED
- To work with the other ED fellows to expand your experience and support each other’s projects

- Is currently training in an acute specialty or is planning on a career in an acute specialty
- Has delivered simulation teaching
