Job overview
This exciting new role has been created to support the introduction of pharmacist-led clinics for haemato-oncology patients across Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. You will be joining a respected team of pharmacists and technicians delivering services to our patients at Frimley Park and Wexham Park Hospitals.
You will be establishing clinics for SACT prescribing, confirming treatments, managing side effects and counselling patients to transform our service to haematology patients. This will include writing the defined outpatient clinic protocols for NMP’s to support activity within the tumour group.
You will also spend time training your colleagues to ensure there is shared learning, screening SACT prescriptions and providing directorate support. You will work closely with the team of haematologists and clinical nurse specialists on each site.
The post holder should have completed the clinical diploma or equivalent, and preferably Independent Prescribing.

Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance have funded this service development for 2 years to establish the clinics and improve our patients' experience of SACT.
Main duties of the job
General:
- To work with other senior pharmacists to develop the clinical pharmacy service to patients within the specialist areas being covered.
- The provision of a clinical pharmacy service to patients within the specialist areas.
- To support the training and development of pharmacist independent prescribers.
- To act as a role model in the field of clinical pharmacy practice and provide a consistently high standard of clinical service in line with the pharmacy objectives.
- The recruitment, management, and development of staff under the postholder.
Haematology roles:
- To partake in Haemato-oncology clinical pharmacy duties ensuring core clinical pharmacy activities are undertaken.
- To manage a caseload of patients as part of the Haemato-oncology Clinical Team within a defined specialist area.
- To develop the provision of Haemato-oncology advanced clinical practice – promoting safe and evidenced-based practice and contributing to improved clinical outcomes and services to patients.
- To provide leadership, management and directorate/service support roles to Haematology.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Pharmacy degree (master’s level 4 years)
- Registered with GPhC.
- Postgraduate clinical diploma or equivalent.
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- Registered as an Independent Pharmacist Prescriber.
Desirable criteria
- UKCPA membership
- RPS membership
- Formal management qualification (or equivalent experience)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of producing guidelines.
- Experience of producing drug appraisals.
- Experience of managing staff Significant post-qualification experience working as a pharmacist in a clinical environment.
- Experience of Homecare
Desirable criteria
- Clinical audit experience.
- Teaching/tutoring experience.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Good interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills.
