FibroScan Technician

Job overview

This role will be central to the provision of Fibroscan®. The post holder will be an integral member of the Hepatology team, responsible for managing a delegated Fibroscan® caseload. This includes running independent clinics, contributing to patient assessment, and providing tailored diet and lifestyle advice. Working closely with the hepatology nursing team, the post holder will support high-quality care for patients with, or at risk of, liver disease.

Fibroscan® (transient elastography) is a non-invasive investigation used to measure liver stiffness. This is a key diagnostic tool for patients with or at risk of having liver disease.

Main duties of the job

  • To participate in the delivery of high-quality patient focused care within Hepatology.
  • To provide a high quality and efficient Fibroscan® service (training will be provided).
  • To work independently, running Fibroscan®, completing adequate documentation.
  • To input patient data into the Hepatology Nurse Specialist Fibroscan® database and help with data collection for Quality and Improvement Projects.
  • To work in accordance with trust policies and procedures and operate within the boundaries of the role and sphere of assessed competencies.

  • NVQ3 in Healthcare or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Diploma/foundation degree or equivalent

Skills

  • Effective communication at all levels
  • Provide diet and lifestyle advice after training.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritising workload.
  • Logical approach to problem solving

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in Health Care setting
  • Experience with Epic, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in a similar post

Special Requirement

Essential criteria
  • Ability to travel between Frimley Park Hospital, Aldershot Centre for Health and Heatherwood Hospital.
