Frimley Park Hospital - Infusion Staff Nurse (Band 5)

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Intravenous and Vascular Access Services team working in the Infusion unit. 

The IVAS unit Delivers inpatient and outpatient services to patients who require intravenous therapies and vascular access device insertion, care and maintenance. 

The successful candidate will be experienced in:

The administration of intravenous therapy, placing peripheral cannula and undertaking venepuncture

Managing vascular access devices

Using electronic patient records such as EPIC

Main duties of the job

To Support and work in conjunction with the IVAS team in the delivery of outpatient and ambulatory care IV services, on the Frimley site. 

The aim of this post is to support the IVAS team in delivering outpatient IV services to prevent admission or readmission to the Trust and where possible deliver bespoke IV services to patients. 

Main duties: IV therapy administration, Venepuncture and cannulation, Vascular access device care and maintenance, Working with EPIC

This clinical role is part of developing and increasing IV services framework for Frimley site of Frimley Health.

Essential criteria
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching and assessing qualification (Mentorship)
  • Immediate Life support

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Newly qualified staff nurses considered
  • Recent clinical experience working in an acute Trust
Desirable criteria
  • IV therapies nursing

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Venepuncture and cannulation skills
  • Competent to deliver IV therapy
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and verbal skills
  • Computer Literacy skills including familiarity with Microsoft and EPIC
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
  • Accessing and managing vascular access devices
