Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated neonatal matron to join our local neonatal unit and neonatal community outreach team at Frimley Park Hospital.

You will be accountable for the neonates and their family experience and the delivery of high-quality services within the neonatal unit on our Frimley Park  site, ensuring efficient and effective management of all resources to deliver safe and effective neonatal care in an environment of continuous improvement.

As a professional lead in this service, you will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills as well as leading and influencing change.

 

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have clinical and managerial responsibility for a defined clinical portfolio at Frimley Health Foundation Trust. The Matron will also have a defined set of relevant requirements specific for the core area of responsibility this will be defined by the Head of Nursing. The post holder will report directly to the Head of Nursing.

The post holder will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of clinical care is provided within the Neonatal department taking responsibility for the Neonatal unit and neonatal community/outreach team at Frimley Park Hospital.

Providing strong, visible leadership and have the appropriate level of authority to provide support, advice and assistance required by patients, families and carers.

Emphasis on the areas of Patient Safety, Patient Experience, User Engagement/Participation and Clinical Outcomes will be essential.

The post holder will have clinical responsibility for supporting the Head of Nursing in activities relating to the delivery of high - quality services, including involvement in maintaining activity levels, managing service pressures and maintaining the highest standards of care. They will provide support to the Head of Nursing for day to day operational issues and deputise as deemed appropriate.

The post holder will have direct access to the Head of Nursing for advice, support development and professional guidance.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
  • Masters level or equivalent level of study/experience
  • Qualification in Speciality (QIS)
  • Recognised leadership & development training

  • In-depth experience in a variety of hospital units.
  • Involvement in clinical audit and/or research.
