An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a highly skilled and supportive team of chemotherapy pharmacists at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.

This post will play a key role in the ongoing development of pharmacy services supporting the delivery of Enhanced Level A Paediatric Shared Care Unit (POSCU) services.

Frimley Park Hospital (FPH) is designated as a Level A Enhanced POSCU and operates as part of the Wessex and Thames Valley Operational Delivery Network (ODN), Southampton Children’s Hospital is the Principal Treatment Centre for FPH.

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust provides haematology and oncology care to paediatric and adult patients on both an inpatient and outpatient basis across three hospital sites, serving populations in Surrey, Hampshire, and Berkshire.

This post is based primarily at Frimley Park Hospital.

The postholder will deliver specialist paediatric oncology pharmacy services to the POSCU at FPH, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high‑quality, and effective cancer care.

The role includes a strong emphasis on service development, clinical leadership, and supporting the delivery of enhanced POSCU services.

The postholder will report directly to the Band 8B Principal Haematology Pharmacist and will be expected to work collaboratively across pharmacy, nursing, and medical teams.

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • To develop, implement, and evaluate POSCU pharmacy services in accordance with local, regional, and national policies, best practice guidance, and all relevant medicines legislation.
  • To ensure the safe, effective, and cost‑effective use of chemotherapy for paediatric oncology patients across inpatient and outpatient services.
  • To clinically validate paediatric oncology prescriptions, including oral, injectable, and clinical trial medicines, in line with Trust protocols and locally agreed policies and standards.
  • To represent FPH at relevant network and operational meetings, contributing to service planning, development, and implementation to support attainment of Enhanced Level A POSCU provision.
  • To act as a core member of the paediatric oncology multidisciplinary team (MDT) at FPH, representing pharmacy at MDT meetings.
  • Arrangements for deputy cover may be provided by another chemotherapy pharmacist as required.
  • To liaise closely with the Principal Treatment Centre (PTC) to support continuity of care and effective transition between POSCU and PTC services.
  • To support the clinical trials pharmacist in the feasibility assessment, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of cancer‑related clinical trials.

  • Pharmacy degree (Master level 4 years)
  • GPhC Registered Pharmacist (or equivalent EU professional qualification)
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

  • UKCPA membership
  • RPS membership
  • Formal management qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Registered as an Independent Pharmacist Prescriber

Experience

  • Significant post-qualification experience working as a pharmacist in a clinical environment.
  • Experience of Homecare (Specialty dependent).
