Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced pharmacist to join our dynamic and forward-thinking team at Frimley Park Hospital.
The post is ideal for Primary Care Pharmacists looking to gain hospital experience, as well as junior hospital pharmacists seeking to broaden their skills and take on a specialist rotational role within an acute hospital setting.
The successful candidate will participate in a structured rotational programme across a range of clinical specialties, including:
- Paediatrics
- Haematology and Oncology
- General Medicine and Surgery
- Medicines Information
Our Band 7 rotational programme is designed to equip pharmacists with the advanced clinical, leadership, and management skills needed to progress to more senior roles within the profession.
You will work closely with Lead Pharmacists, clinicians, nursing staff, and senior managers to develop and deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care and ensure the safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
- To partake in the Band 7 Rotations through different clinical specialties- including (but not limited to) Paediatrics, Medicine & Surgery
- To develop the clinical pharmacy service to patients within the specialist area
- The provision of a clinical pharmacy service to patients within the specialist areas
- To act as a role model in the field of clinical pharmacy practice and provide a consistently high standard of clinical service in line with the pharmacy objectives.
- The recruitment, management and development of staff under the postholder.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- The post holder will work across a range of specialist areas, providing a high-quality clinical pharmacy service in accordance with departmental standards and current legislation.
You will collaborate with Lead Pharmacists, clinicians, and nursing staff to optimise medicines use and improve patient outcomes. - Key duties include medicines reconciliation, pharmaceutical care planning, drug therapy review, discharge counselling, and participation in multidisciplinary ward rounds. You will contribute to developing and implementing clinical protocols, ensuring safe and cost-effective prescribing in line with Trust formulary and policies.
The role involves supporting clinical governance activities, audits, and service improvement projects. - You will also deliver education and training to pharmacy, medical, and nursing staff, act as an educational supervisor, and maintain professional competence through CPD. Participation in dispensary, on-call, weekend, and bank holiday rotas is required.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Pharmacy degree (Master level 4 years)
- Registered with GPhC
- Within 12 months of completion of Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy / Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Independent pharmacist Prescriber
- Completion of Diploma in Clinical Practice OR equivalent
experience/knowledge
Essential criteria
- Presentation skills
- Ability to train others
- Ability to present data effectively as evidence based reports/cases
- Evidence of up to date CPD in clinical pharmacy
Desirable criteria
- Member of UKCPA
- Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society

- Recent Hospital Clinical Pharmacy experience
