Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technicians to join our team.
We welcome applicants from community or other pharmacy sectors, and previous hospital experience is not essential.
This is a Band 4/5 progression post, with Band 5 covering accredited checking (if not already achieved) and leadership development for those already holding ACT status.
You will complete a comprehensive in-house competency programme, including supervisory and leadership training, to equip you with the skills needed for hands-on line management once competent.

Main duties of the job
- Provide excellent patient care for inpatients, outpatients and external units.
- Work with the EPIC electronic prescribing system and Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets to deliver an accurate, timely and cost-effective pharmacy service.
- Duties include accurate labelling, dispensing and checking of a wide range of prescriptions, including controlled drugs, clinical trials, TPN, chemotherapy, home IV therapies and palliative care medicines.
- Medicines management rotations will offer direct patient contact, including taking medication histories, medicines reconciliation, supporting safe and correct use of prescribed medicines and counselling patients on new treatments.
- A competency unit will be provided for each area to ensure full training is completed and competence is demonstrated before independent working is expected.
