Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Band 3 OT and Physiotherapy Assistant to join our dynamic and friendly Stroke Team.

This team provides a service for stroke patients  supporting with assessment, rehab and complex discharges. You will have the opportunity to complete sessions alongside advanced physiotherapist and Occupational Therapists to develop skills whilst also managing your own caseload/ interventions.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as a proactive member of the team providing a high quality, efficient and effective service to patients.
  • To undertake delegated therapy treatment, rehab and patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered practitioner.  Including exercise therapy, functional rehab and equipment provision and set up. To work within relevant legal and ethical frameworks and in accordance with organisational protocols and policies.
  • Work closely alongside physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide holistic care.
  • Help patients regain independence through tailored exercise programs and functional activities.
  • Offer reassurance and emotional support to patients and families during a challenging time.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to complete administrative duties to support patients journeys

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English grade C or above
  • NVQ3 or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
  • Documented evidence on C.P.D.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • To have had experience working as a therapies Assistant in the relevant speciality.
  • To have worked as part of a team.
Desirable criteria
  • To have worked as band 2 or above in NHS in Neurology environment

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills to include concise and effective verbal and written reports
  • Good time management.
  • Prioritisation skills.
  • Confident computer skills e.g. word.
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to present information to a small group
  • Ability to conduct and respond to risk assessments.
  • Teaching skills.
  • Knowledge of anatomy/physiology.
