We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to provide clinical, professional and managerial leadership across the Oncology Division.

This exciting opportunity to work in a very busy Cancer Centre is seeking someone who is passionate about leading and providing excellent care to the cancer patients, and their families that we serve.

Provide clinical,  professional, and managerial leadership across the Oncology Division effectively.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

•    To be the nursing/midwifery lead, providing a strong clinical presence and developing nurses and nursing practice within the Oncology Division, assuring the provision of a safe, effective and evidence based nursing/midwifery service to patients/women.  Lead and direct development of privacy, dignity, equality and the delivery of safe patient care including infection control and nutrition/hydration.
•    Easily identifiable and visible and accessible to patients/women, staff and visitors.
•    To inspire, motivate and empower all members of the team.
•    To be a core member of the SBU Management teams, ensuring that the SBUs are able to meet agreed targets within the available resources.  Actively support the team objectives by developing services and leading hospital/nursing projects to influence service redesign Lead and participate in projects and areas of work, which reflect clinical, professional and corporate objectives 
•    To be the Oncology divisions lead for Patient Experience.
•    To be accountable for all aspects of designated budgets within the Oncology Division. 
•    To work in partnership with the senior sisters to ensure accountability on key performance indicators.
•    To empower nurses in providing demonstrably high standards and excellence in the quality of care in a clean and safe environment.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RGN/RM (Adult) registration
  • 1s' level Nursing Degree
  • Teaching/mentorship qualification
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development relevant to this role.
Desirable criteria
  • Yellow Belt/Project Management
  • Currently studying for post graduate degree
  • Quality improvement programe - willingness to undertake
  • Clinical Specialist qualification (or experience) in their area
  • Masters Degree or equivalent experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Implementation of national nursing/midwifery guidance and standards, and championing of good clinical practice
  • Implementing of Safety and Risk Management practices
  • Clinical competence, including administering drugs and I/V’s
  • Design and implementation of patient care pathways
  • Good listening skills, able to articulate views whilst considering others
