This position is open to midwives who are interested in working within a Continuity of Carer model and are able to meet the challenge of delivering high standards of care, ensuring that each woman’s journey to motherhood is an individualised experience.
We are currently looking for Band 6 Midwives to join our Antenatal core team supporting the antenatal ward, day assessment and maternity triage.
Are you passionate about providing high-quality antenatal care and keen to broaden your knowledge, skills and experience within this area of midwifery?
This is an exciting time in antenatal care, giving you the opportunity to develop skills in induction of labour, speculum examinations, presentation scanning and supporting complex pregnancies. You will also work heavily in the Maternity Triage, supporting us to successfully implement and embed the BSOTS model of care.
If you are enthusiastic about antenatal triage and antenatal care, enjoy being involved in service development and would like the opportunity to join a dedicated core team for a minimum of 1 year then please consider applying.
You must hold NMC midwifery registration.
You will be expected to be able to show evidence of current practice/updating.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the Multi-professional team providing a high standard of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal midwifery care to women and their families within the integrated maternity service. To work as part of a continuity of carer team or rotate within all clinical areas within maternity services to support professional development and maintain safe standards of midwifery care in line with service provision.
The post-holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. This midwife is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care and is designated to take charge regularly of a ward area or an equivalent sphere within midwifery in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility. The post-holder will be required to work in both the community and the hospital across a 7 day service including night duties. The post-holder is expected to supervise junior staff and to be able to teach qualified and unqualified staff, including basic and/or post-basic students.
