Applications are invited for this Senior Clinical Fellow post in Advanced Minimal Access Surgery in Gynaecology working with Mr Andrew Kent and his team at the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Guildford.
This post is aimed at a Senior Specialist Registrar (ST6/7) interested in pursuing a career in either Minimal Access Gynaecology or complex benign gynaecological surgery, including the treatment of severe recto-vaginal endometriosis. This post holder will also be completing on call duties within the O&G rota. It may be used as a stepping-stone to subsequent sub-specialty training. Contract starting in October 2026.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be expected to work within the minimal access team, and in close liaison with the other surgical specialties, particularly colorectal and urology. Significant input into our teaching and research programmes will be expected. There is additional support from the MATTU team, our gynaecological nurse specialists and research sisters.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology provides services for the Surrey Heartland ICS and adjacent areas. A full range of gynaecological and obstetric services is provided on site.
The Royal Surrey Hospital Trust is a thriving District General Hospital serving the people of Surrey and the population of the bordering counties. Our Maternity Department has an excellent reputation having just been awarded ‘Outstanding’ at the recent CQC inspection and our general gynaecology services cover all aspects of women’s care. The Royal Surrey Maternity Department is one of only a few organisations in the country to be awarded the UNICEF’s Baby Friendly Gold Award. Gynaecological oncology is covered by colleagues working in an independent division, but we work closely with them to provide care and training in this area.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice.
- MBBS or Equivalent.
- MRCOG 2/3 or Equivalent.
- 5 years in Obstetrics & Gynaecology Teaching experience.
Desirable criteria
- Gynae ultrasound
- Colposcopy.
- Independent LH, operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy.
- Experience in surgical treatment of advanced endometriosis.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
