Job overview
This is a full time post for a Clinical Teaching Fellow in Obstetrics and Gynaecology education with the opportunity to undertake an appropriate teaching qualification.
The role will be primarily to teach, train and support the successful delivery of placements in O&G within RSFT for medical students from the University of Surrey’s School of Medicine.
The post holder will work closely with other Clinical Teaching Fellows, two Chief Teaching Fellows, O&G Theme Lead and the Undergraduate Tutor for the University of Surrey. There are also two Undergraduate Managers based at the Trust, who plan, organise and support the organisation of teaching within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
During term time 50% of the post holder’s time will be spent on undergraduate teaching activities within the trust from Monday to Friday, apart from Tuesdays which will be based at the University of Surrey. During term time there will be up to one day (or 2 daytime sessions depending on timetable) for personal clinical time. The area of speciality will be dependent on the successful candidate's choice and availability.
An honorary title from the University will be awarded according to experience. Teaching at the UoS will include small group teaching, Team Based Learning, anatomy, clinical skills and interprofessional scenario supervision. with a view to commencing employment on 5th August 2026.
The remainder of the year when students are not at the trust will be used for clinical work to help develop the individual’s career, and for time to undertake a post-graduate qualification in education (PG Cert). The successful candidate will be allocated funds for the cost of this.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- Successful completion of foundation training or demonstration of equivalent competencies
Desirable criteria
- MRCOG
- Higher post-graduate certificate/diploma/masters in education
- Additional postgraduate qualification such as MSc, MD or PhD
Experience
Essential criteria
- NHS experience
- Experience with UK undergraduate medical curriculum and assessment
- Previous experience of teaching undergraduate medical students/other clinical students
- Competent in procedures e.g. CPR, infection control, physical examination, history taking etc (capabilities and competencies appropriate to level of clinical training/experience)
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of leadership in education
