Safeguarding Children’s Nurse – Women and Children’s Director

Band 6 Role. 

We are recruiting to our Trust safeguarding team and require a band 6 Safeguarding Nurse to support Children’s Safeguarding. 

Working as part of the Trust Safeguarding team, the post holder will help provide an integrated, trust wide safeguarding service.

The post holder will be passionate about delivering training to staff throughout the trust and will develop a close working relationship with partner agencies.

The post holder will support the Safeguarding Team with achieving local and national performance targets and ensure that safeguarding requirements are met.

We are looking for a qualified nurse with an interest and knowledge in safeguarding children.

The post holder will need to be a team player and have excellent communication skills.

They will need to work throughout the Trust and alongside our multiagency partners; meeting the needs of children, young people and families in our care.

The post hold will be part of a supportive team and there will development opportunities.   

 

 

 

Main duties of the job

To support the Safeguarding Children’s team to ensure the organisation meets its safeguarding responsibilities with regard to children, young people and their families.

The post holder will work across acute services and within a multi-agency arena, providing advice and support to organisation staff on the safeguarding issues affecting the health and wellbeing of children, young people. The post holder will be required to work in partnership with other agencies providing health advice and support to multi-agency partners.

They will deliver training and participate in the delivery of safeguarding supervision under the direction of the Named and specialist nurse for safeguarding children.

They will work as part of a specialist team to support the organisation in its quality assurance role, ensuring that identified safeguarding issues are managed effectively and support is provided appropriately.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of all levels of safeguarding training in the trust. They will have an expert knowledge of safeguarding children and be able to provide supervision and advice to all members of staff.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered with NMC
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Post registration qualification /experience in safeguarding
  • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification (ENB 998/C&G730 or equivalent).
  • Evidence of relevant post registration professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • Safeguarding Supervision Training/ Qualification

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent clinical experience of working with vulnerable children and/or adults and their families
  • Experience of participating in clinical and safeguarding supervision
  • Experience in dealing with contentious and emotive information and advising on management of sensitive cases
  • Knowledge of national safeguarding policies
  • Understanding of the modern NHS including current key policies and priorities and their application
  • Ability to work independently but also as a team player, able to contribute to the wider mission of the organisation
