Job overview

Surrey and Borders Partnership Foundation Trust provide a number of clinical health psychology Services into  local acute trusts and into community services . 

We are currently seeking a clinical/ counselling psychologist with specialist skills and experience to join a well-established multi-disciplinary pain team at the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford. Psychology is highly valued as an integral part of the MDT’s practice.

You will be based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital and there will be some scope for remote working.

The service is in the process of moving towards integrated care. You will be working alongside service leads to develop and evaluate strong pathways, processes and partnerships. As well as collaborating with your colleagues in the pain service you will be part of an innovative and supportive network of psychologists in physical healthcare, some of whom work in other pain services.

Main duties of the job

The focus of the role currently includes:

·       Consultations with patients, MDT and other healthcare professionals and teams

·       The development, facilitation  and evaluation of online pain management programmes

·       The development of pathways and partnerships across services and organisations

·       Supervision of trainees and other professionals

 The new postholder will have opportunities to shape the service in collaboration with the rest of the team and other stakeholders.

 Your professional development will be supported through management and clinical and peer supervision,  and access to CPD opportunities.

Qualifications required

Essential criteria
  • Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology qualification or equivalent
  • Completion of an appropriate clinical supervision course to enable supervision of trainees
Desirable criteria
  • Additional academic clinical qualification relevant to area of work
  • Additional leadership/management study

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post qualification clinical experience in relevant clinical setting
  • Experience of leading in clinical practice, service development or project work.
  • Experience of supervising trainees, assistant psychologists, qualified clinical/counselling psychologists and others providing psychological therapies
  • Experience of implementing change following audit and service evaluation
  • Demonstrable experience of developing complex formulations drawing on multiple psychological models
  • Experience of advising other professionals on complex psychological issues and risk
