We’re looking for a motivated and creative Senior Communications Officer (Digital) to join our Communications and Engagement team and help improve lives through engaging, high-quality digital communication.
This is a hands-on role with responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of the Trust’s public websites and staff intranet, ensuring content is accessible, engaging, well-structured and informed by insight and analytics. You’ll also lead on creating impactful video, digital and visual content, using strong design skills to support engagement across channels.
Working with a whole-Trust perspective, you’ll help drive our narrative by showcasing expert care, strong partnerships and continuous improvement, while supporting our digital-first and behaviour change ambitions.
Main duties of the job
As part of the Communications and Engagement department, the role holder will support the use of digital, online and AI tools to improve engagement with our staff and public – and drive behaviour change by connecting patients, families and carers with the most relevant support and services.
The role holder will support the Communications Manager (Digital) to deliver the digital first and behaviour change ambitions set out in our agreed communication and engagement strategy.
They will help improve our communication and engagement with internal and public audiences through accessible, engaging digital experiences, aligned to the Trust’s emerging digital strategy and the NHS’s ten-year plan.
Working with senior colleagues, you will use the feedback of staff and people who use our services to shape the way we use online and digital platforms to communicate and engage, strengthening existing channels and testing new ways to reach our diverse audiences.
Other responsibilities may include managing external companies and contracts, making recommendations around spend and helping monitor budgets.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· Managing and developing the Trust’s websites and intranet in line with best practice, SEO and WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards
· Creating video content end-to-end, from filming to final edit, tailored for different platforms and audiences
· Using analytics (including GA4) and user insight to improve content, journeys and engagement
· Working closely with colleagues across the Trust to ensure content is accurate, timely and effective
· Liaising with developers, agencies and internal digital teams on improvements and new functionality
· Supporting the introduction of AI and new digital tools
· Managing YouTube channels and supporting the Trust’s brand and corporate identity

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent experience in a digital marketing or communications role.
- Evidence of continuous professional development in digital communications, web, content design, analytics, video production or related areas.
Desirable criteria
- Relevant training or certification in Website or content management systems
- Relevant training or certification in Digital analytics (e.g. Google Analytics / GA4)
- Relevant training or certification in Video production or editing software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro)
- Relevant training or certification in Digital accessibility, UX or content design
- Relevant training or certification in Design
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a busy communication / marketing team within a complex organisation
- Experience of using Sharepoint to manage and develop staff intranet
- Experience of improving user experience (UX) on websites or intranets, including reviewing navigation and engagement, identifying duplication or poor journeys, and suggesting practical improvements based on user behaviour and feedback.
