Senior EHR Development Specialist - Band 7 - Permanent - Full Time

Working as a Senior EHR Development Specialist you will be leading the EHR team in developing successful digital solutions across the trusts EHR estate. 

This role will represent the EHR team at the most technical level and will therefore be able to demonstrate an expert knowledge of the local clinical systems. 

You should have, or be developing,  an awareness of lean and agile methods and using a shared toolkit of techniques, processes and systems.

 You will be expected to be flexible and will be comfortable working on different projects and services as business priorities and demands change.

Provisional Interview Date - 27th November 2025.

Provisional Assessment Date - 1st December 2025

Candidates who are successful after the initial interview stage will be invited to further complete a relevant skills assessment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

• Lead the team to Develop solutions based on evidence of user needs and organisational outcomes. 
• Work with the team to develop design ideas and improvements. 
• Prototype design ideas in various methods including configuration in the demo environment.
• Interpret evidence-based research and include it in their work. 
• Support the values and standards of inclusive and accessible design.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree level education in IT or Health-based subject or equivalent relevant experience
  • Qualification or equivalent experience demonstrating proficiency in clinical systems (especially SystmOne e.g. Train the Trainer)
  • Recognised design qualification for example in Service Design, Interaction Design, Human Centred Design or equivelant experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Expert knowledge of Electronic Patient Records, including coding hierarchies (e.g. SNOMED, ICD10, OPCS4)
  • Extensive knowledge and recent experience of SystmOne or associated clinical systems, and related processes used in an NHS setting.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering solutions through to live, including supporting reporting requirements (e.g. MHSDS)
  • Demonstrable experience of working across multiple clinical systems
  • Demonstrable experience of leading configuration of SystmOne or similar clinical systems to an expert level
  • Experience of interpreting clinical / operational requirements into effective solutions
  • Demonstrable experience in leading onwider digital health product deployments e.g. Electronic Referral Service, Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration, SMS clients, open data
