 We are seeking an experienced and compassionate  Consultant Psychiatrist to join our dynamic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) team. This is a fantastic oportunity to work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team committed to providing high quality, patient-centred care to young people and their families covering areas which include Redhill, Epsom and Leatherhead. The postholder will be part of a non-resident out of hours rota ( phone only)

You will play a key leadership role in the clinical delivery and development of the service, supporting the mental health needs of children and adolescent across the local area. 

Main duties of the job

You’ll have the opportunity of working within a well-established and friendly team of highly skilled professionals who are passionate and committed to the care needs of our children and young people. 

The postholder will offer outpatient clinics, hold a caseload and be required to do occasional home visits. You will liaise with primary care, be involved in referrals and new assessments.

The post holder will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MB BS or equivalent recognised medical qualification.
  • Full medical registration with a license to practice.
  • Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act(or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
  • MRCPsych or equivalent
  • Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills.

Eligibility

Essential criteria
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
Desirable criteria
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within three months of appointment
  • In good standing with GMC concerning warnings and conditions on practice

Clinical Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge oflegislation, Department of Health Guidance and literature and its implications for clinical practice
  • Knowledge of NHS strategic vision in the Next Stage Review (High-Quality Care for All)
  • Excellent clinicalskills using bio-psychosocial perspective and wide medical knowledge
  • Ability to meet duties under MHA and MCA
  • Experience working with various patient groups presenting with the full range of clinical severity across different care Scr SAPB-RC-JD-XXX version[Publish Date] Page 15 of 16 settings, including community, inpatient, and specialist teams.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric provision
