Are you a creative and ambitious communications professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and knows how to engage audiences through compelling content and digital channels?
Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is looking for a proactive Communications Manager to join our busy and supportive Communications Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering communications that support the Trust’s strategic priorities, helping to tell the story of our organisation through engaging campaigns, media relations, digital communications and stakeholder engagement.
Working with colleagues across the Trust, you will develop, deliver and evaluate communications plans and projects, identify and promote positive stories, and provide expert communications advice to services, senior leaders and clinical teams. You will be confident managing multiple priorities, building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and delivering high-quality communications activity that supports organisational objectives.
Main duties of the job
A significant part of the role is leading the day-to-day development of the Trust’s digital channels. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of creating engaging content for online audiences, who is adept at using content management systems and understands how to maximise the impact of websites, intranets and social media. You will have experience filming, editing and producing multimedia content, with an excellent eye for detail, strong design instincts and the creativity to ensure our content and digital communications stand out from the crowd.
The ideal candidate will experience in healthcare communications, ideally NHS, and be an organised and adaptable team player who can prioritise a busy workload, use their initiative and solve problems effectively. You will be confident leading communications projects and campaigns from planning through to delivery and evaluation, while working diplomatically with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

Working for our organisation
Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the region's busiest providers of healthcare. It was formed on 1 April 1998 following a merger between East Surrey Healthcare NHS and Crawley Horsham NHS Trusts. We are often referred to as 'SASH'.
We run East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, where we have more than 700 beds and provide acute and complex services. In addition, we provide a range of outpatient, diagnostic and less complex planned services at The Earlswood Centre, Caterham Dene Hospital, Crawley Hospital and Horsham Hospital.
Every year, over 120,000 people attend our Emergency Department, we deliver nearly 4,000 babies and almost half a million people have outpatient appointments with us.
We are a major local employer, with a diverse workforce of around 5,500 staff providing healthcare services to a growing population of some 744,000 people.
We are proud to be an inclusive employer, and we work hard to create an environment where everyone feels valued and supported. At our Trust, we strive to be the best place to work and receive care. We are dedicated to supporting you in your current role while helping you grow and develop your career.
