Senior Clinical Fellow in General Paediatrics & Neonatology (ST3+)
NHS Medical & Dental: Senior Clinical Fellow
Job overview
Senior Clinical Fellow in General Paediatrics and Neonatology (ST3+ level)
At SASH we are running a unique programme for those completing their Portfolio Pathway (CESR) in Paediatrics. We are linked with a London PICU and tertiary NICU and a community paediatrics team so that you can complete your training during your employment with us. We have a group of dedicated consultants experienced in completing CESR who will supervise you through the process.
We seek to employ a senior clinical fellow at specialty doctor level covering general paediatrics and neonatology in our busy secondary care service for a period of 12 months. The successful candidate would have the chance to join a CESR programme where you would have the opportunity to work at St Georges hospital in London in their PICU and tertiary NICU on placement and also to work in a community placement in the local area. Support will be provided by a team of Consultants experienced in CESR with regular appraisals.
This post is required to cover gaps in the rota. We undertake separate rotas in general and neonatal paediatrics at Consultant, Middle grade and SHO level.
Main duties of the job
We seek to employ a senior clinical fellow at ST4+ equivalent level covering general paediatrics and neonatology in our busy secondary care service for 12 month fixed term Posts. This post is to cover gaps in the rota. You will work a 18 person, full shift rota, with duties consisting of short days, long days, evening shifts 1-10pm and night shifts.
There are 4 clinical areas: the paediatric inpatient unit (Outwood ward), the Child Assessment Unit (CAU), the neonatal unit (NNU) and postnatal ward (Burstow ward). There are separate rotas in general and neonatal paediatrics at all levels.
You will rotate across all areas in paediatrics and Neonates as per the rota, and will independently hold Registrar Led outpatient clinics, supervised by a consultant. You will work 1 in 3 weekends approximately. You will do one set of nights every 6 weeks. All clinical areas are well supported with consultant presence and cross team working is expected.
We have an extensive teaching schedule including consultant-led morning teaching, weekly Xray meeting, weekly simulation teaching, monthly Safeguarding peer review meeting, a monthly Perinatal mortality and morbidity meeting, and a monthly paediatric one.
There is opportunity to take part in Audit, Quality Improvement projects, and to present at departmental Teaching and the Hospital Grand Round, as well as teaching for medical students.
You will be allocated an Educational Supervisor (ES) to mentor and guide you in this post.
