Medicines Information and Patient Services Pharmacist

NHS AfC: Band 7

Job overview

Are you a Band 7 pharmacist looking for new role, or an experienced Band 6 that is ready to deliver this role either now, or within the next 12 months?

To start straight as a band 7, you would be required to have Stage 1 (Certificate) of the Foundation Programme or equivalent, or be on target to achieve it in the next 3 months, plus meet the other essential requirements in the job description. If you do not quite meet these requirements you could be considered for the structured band 6 to 7 progression.

This post offers a variety of experience, primarily split between patient services and medicines information, with ad hoc cover of acute wards and clinical trials when necessary. Clinical screening is a major element of this role

This candidate will need to work in an intense environment, demonstrate good leadership skills, and manage multiple priorities. The individual will work as part of a team, both within pharmacy and with other stakeholders across the trust.  Previous experience of working on wards is an advantage. Awareness and understanding of CQC, GPhC and NHS standards is an advantage.

Our department has a strong emphasis on training and development, working closely with HEE and the HEIs of Medway, Kings and UCL to deliver the diploma programme, CEPIP and independent prescribing qualifications. For those who have completed the diploma, opportunities include non-medical prescribing, becoming a designated supervisor for trainee pharmacists and other line management

Main duties of the job

For further information, please see the attached trust job description and person specification for a full list of duties and responsibilities.

Working for our organisation

We provide emergency and non-emergency services to the residents of East Surrey, North-East West Sussex, and South Croydon, including the major towns of Crawley, Horsham, Reigate and Redhill; a community of over 535,000 people. We provide acute and complex services and a range of outpatient, diagnostic services whilst Crawley Hospital and Horsham in West Sussex and Caterham Dene Hospital and Oxted Health Centre in Surrey provide less complex planned services. In 2019 the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated our services as ‘Outstanding’ and we are one of the best performing Trusts in England:

  • Winners of Health Service Journal Acute Trust of the year award 2021.
  • National Patient Safety Awards winner and strive to be a beacon for safety in all that we do.
  • We are rated the sixth highest trust in the South East and in the top 25% nationally for staff recommending the Trust as a place to work or receive treatment.
