Band 5 Staff Nurses – Permanent & 12-Month FTC Opportunities
Location: Eden Ward, Wexham Park Hospital

We are seeking compassionate and motivated Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our Eden Ward team, supporting patients in cancer and chemotherapy services. This is an excellent opportunity to gain specialist experience with full support to develop your skills and confidence in delivering high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients receiving chemotherapy

Support daily patient list coordination and workload allocation

Administer chemotherapy safely (training provided)

Triage and assess patients using the UKONS system

About You:

Motivated, enthusiastic, and collaborative team player

Keen to develop skills in oncology and chemotherapy care

Committed to excellent patient-centred care

Newly qualified nurses from UK universities are welcome; you will receive preceptorship, mentoring, and ongoing development.

Main duties of the job

•    Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual patient care with minimal supervision. 
•    To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that treatments are correctly carried out in accordance with given policy. 
•    Responsible for the assessment of complex care needs of chemotherapy patients and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. 
•    Lead and monitor the performance and standards of care within the Nursing Team. 
•    Work collaboratively with the other members of cancer services team to facilitate the development of the service

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RGN Level 1
  • Current NMC Registration
Desirable criteria
  • Trained in the administration of chemotherapy

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Competent in basic life support and IV administration
  • Acute Medical Nursing Environment
  • Teaching and supervising of junior staff
  • Effective working with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Has experience working with EPR system
Desirable criteria
  • Has experience or training in haematology/ oncology ward
  • Has experience or training with administration of chemotherapy

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult / stressful situations
  • Time management and delegation skills
  • Able to train and supervise junior staff
  • Able to manage a team in the absence of the team leader
  • Able to prioritise workload (self and others) and meet deadlines
Desirable criteria
  • Has experience or competent in administration of chemotherapy and care for patients undergoing cancer treatments
