Please note that this is a Part Time position, 34.5 hours per week.

You’ll play a key part in carrying out duties to support all staff in the care of babies, children and their families.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job are:

  • To ensure all ward facilities and equipment are tidy, clean and available for use for children, parents and staff.
  • To clean cots, beds, incubators and medical equipment as required.
  • Ensure all areas are kept well stocked as necessary.
  • Maintain stock usage and report shortfalls to the senior sister for ordering.

Some of the core tasks include:

  • Ensure ward facilities and equipment are tidy, clean and available for use for children, parents and staff.
  • Clean cots, incubators, and nurseries as required.
  • Cleaning of medical equipment.
  • To assist families resident in family rooms as requested by nursing staff.
  • Ensure family rooms are kept clean and comfortable, make up beds as needed.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Maths and English Grade C/4 or above or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of dealing with the general public
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in a healthcare setting
  • Experience of manual handling
  • Experience on a hospital ward

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Basic numeracy and literacy
  • Ability to follow clear instructions and feedback from staff
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

Special Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Willingness to work full shift patterns, including early/late/night shifts and weekends and bank holidays
