Job overview
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our Angiography Unit on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover. The unit provides specialist care for cardiac patients undergoing cardiac intervention, electrophysiology (EP) procedures and primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI).
This is a busy and challenging environment requiring a calm, confident and assertive approach, with the ability to prioritise and manage a demanding workload. We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and highly motivated registered nurse with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Working alongside the Ward Manager, you will support the delivery of consistently high standards of patient care, contributing to the effective leadership and management of the nursing team. You will also work closely with the Practice Development Sister to support the education, training and development of staff and help raise the profile of the speciality.
Applicants must have recent experience caring for cardiac patients within an acute cardiac environment, with evidence of professional development and the application of evidence-based practice.
A Mentorship Preparation Certificate (e.g. ENB998 or equivalent), together with experience of teaching, supervising, mentoring and assessing student nurses, is essential.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating safe and high quality patient care.
To manage patients flow throw cardiology.
To provide support to the Unit Manager and deputise when required.
To develop and manage a team of nurses.
To participate in unit development by implementing innovations.
To participate in clinical audits to ensure high standard service is delivered.
