Frimley Health Foundation Trust has an exciting vacancy for a fixed term Band 7 Upper GI Oncology Specialist dietitian. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, active team player with good communication skills to join our acute Dietetic team on a fixed term contract, ending at end of March 2026.
This role will lead on the development and day to day running of the UGI Oncology dietetic services within Frimley Health Foundation Trust. It will include team leader responsibilities within the department and direct line management. You will contribute to the development of the service, manage and understand specialist data, ensure clinical guidelines are up-to-date and implemented, lead on audit and quality improvement ensuring that the team’s work contributes towards best care approach and in turn the Frimley Health Foundation Trust strategy.
Main duties of the job
- This role will lead on the development and day to day running of the UGI Oncology dietetic services within Frimley Health Foundation Trust and
- Provide advanced assessment and treatment of UGI oncology patients within the in and outpatient setting at Wexham Park Hospital.
- This role will be an expert resource within the department and oncology, be responsible for the UGI oncology dietetic services at Wexham Park Hospital and support the UGI dietetic service pathway cross-site.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Specialist clinical areas
- To manage, analyse and understand data for specialist area
- To utilise data to guide service development and quality improvement
- To be an autonomous practitioner in assessing and developing nutritional plans for a complex clinical caseload within inpatients and outpatients, with a focus on those with upper-gastrointestinal cancer
- To lead on the clinical dietetic service for UGI oncology cross-site, with the main clinical caseload based at Wexham Park Hospital
- To monitor incidents within your clinical specialty and assist with incident investigation when required
- To act as an expert resource, providing dietetic advice and support to health care professionals working within dietetics and the wider team
- To contribute to the education of multi-disciplinary groups, patients, families, carers and general public as appropriate e.g. Cancer Support Group, Health and Wellbeing day
Departmental roles and responsibilities
- Linking with the UGI team at Frimley Park Hospital to help support the development of UGI service cross-site. To help enable equity of service at both hospital sites
- To be flexible in times of increased demand to the service and be willing to cover other areas of the hospital and work on other sites within Frimley Health NHS Foundation trust

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Recognised degree in nutrition and dietetics or equivalent
- HCPC registration
- Advanced communication course
- Leadership or supervisory course
- Evidence of further postgraduate study in specialisation up to MSc level or equivalent
- In-depth knowledge of evidence-based practice
- In-depth knowledge of health legislation in current practice and clinical governance
- Knowledge of risk assessment
- Active member of oncology specialist group
