Come and join our thriving network of psychologists at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. Our Critical Care Rehabilitation and Follow-up Service (CCRFS) is looking for an 8B Psychologist Lead (0.53 WTE) to join their highly specialist and motivated MDT at their Wexham Park Hospital site in Slough. The vacancy has arisen due to the promotion of the current postholder. 

The post would suit someone with ambition, drive, and strong team skills. This is a leadership position, with managerial and supervisory responsibilities for our 8A Clinical Psychologist working at our Frimley Park Critical Care site. Our CCRFS has recently been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating and is a national leader within the field of critical care recovery, guiding the rehabilitation journey of adult critical care survivors from hospital to the community. 

The role is suitable for an 8B lead psychologist who can work with an applied psychology model. We are passionate about inclusivity and diversity within our service and welcome applications from all candidates who bring the required competencies and experience.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the CCRFS Lead for both our acute sites to further develop psychology and contribute to quality initiatives. Our dynamic CCRFS team includes nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy & Intensivists. Psychology is a highly valued resource. There are exciting opportunities to work within inpatient and outpatient settings, MDT complex decision-making, embedding trauma-informed care, and supporting colleagues working in a challenging environment.

SABP and FHFT have an established partnership in the provision of clinical health psychology services across Frimley ICS. You will join a dynamic team of practitioner psychologists working across specialties offering a supportive team environment and CPD opportunities. You will be managed by one of the co-leads (Consultant Clinical Psychologist).

We are connected into the wider SABP Clinical Health Psychology network, which consists of a community health psychology service and specialist applied psychology in neighbouring acute hospitals. We are affiliated with the University of Surrey PsychD course, offering placements for trainees across the programme, and accessing CPD such as supervisor training.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology qualification or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Additional leadership/management study
  • Completion of an appropriate clinical supervision course to enable supervision of trainees

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post-qualification experience in relevant / transferrable clinical setting(s)
  • Demonstrable experience of developing complex trauma-informed formulations drawing on multiple psychological models
  • Experience of leading in clinical practice, service development or project work.
  • Experience of supervising trainees, assistant psychologists, qualified clinical/counselling psychologists and others providing psychological therapies
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working in a physical health setting
  • Experience of implementing change following audit and service evaluation
  • Experience of delivering training and provision of clinical supervision within multidisciplinary teams
