Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a proactive and skilled Estates Electrical Supervisor to join our dedicated Estates team. This is an essential role in ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of our hospital’s electrical and mechanical systems — supporting the delivery of exceptional patient care every day.

Main duties of the job

As an Estates Electrical Supervisor, you will play a vital part in maintaining and improving the hospital’s building services and infrastructure. You’ll oversee the day-to-day delivery of maintenance and repair works, ensuring all activities meet regulatory standards and Health & Safety requirements.

You will also:

  • Supervise Estates staff and contractors, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

  • Act as the Trust’s Authorised Person (AP) for Electrical Safety (HTM 06-02).

  • Manage and monitor reactive and planned maintenance tasks using the Trust’s electronic systems.

  • Lead and support your team in achieving compliance and service excellence.

  • Take part in the Estates Manager on-call rota (1 in 4) — enhancing your overall earning potential.

  • Be responsible for ordering and managing materials and stock, ensuring best value and efficient use of resources.

  • Provide technical advice to colleagues and departments across the Trust.

About You

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A sound background in electrical and mechanical systems, ideally within a healthcare or large-scale estates environment.

  • Strong technical knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and the ability to diagnose and rectify faults.

  • Experience in supervising trade staff and contractors, maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

  • A flexible, proactive approach — with the ability to work on-call and across sites when required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria
  • Good general education
  • Recognised trade apprenticeship. NVQ level 3 or equivalent electrical installation/maintenance
  • • City and Guilds BS 7671 18th edition in Electrical installation
Desirable criteria
  • HNC Mech/Elec Eng
  • City & Guilds Authorised Person – LV AP (HTM 06-02)
  • C&G 2391 inspection & testing

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Good organisational skills and ability to address and develop solutions to problems.
  • Good communication skills for effective working relationships throughout the organisation.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and part of a team.
  • Organised approach to work.
  • Basic IT skills for material ordering.
  • Evidence of good written and spoken communication skills.
  • Able to follow written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to train other members of the estates team.
  • High standard of workmanship and high quality completion on all work undertaken.
  • Experience in an engineering service
Desirable criteria
  • Service within the field of maintenance, focus on service supply, problem solving keeping the client informed.
  • Trend BMS experience fault finding and operating
  • Knowledge of HTMs
  • Experience with CHP systems
  • NHS Experience

  • To have relevant previous working experience within the building trades.
  • Experience of working within a large industrial/ commercial environment.

  • Experience of working in an Acute Hospital Environment.
