Job overview

Are you a senior healthcare professional with extensive clinical experience and a passion for optimising hospital flow? Do you excel in managing complex patient pathways while collaborating with system-wide partners?

We are looking for an experienced Operational Head of Site at Wexham park hospital to provide clinical leadership in managing patient flow across elective and non-elective pathways at Frimley health . This is a pivotal role in ensuring safe, effective, and timely patient movement throughout the hospital, while also working closely with system partners to improve discharge processes and capacity planning.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight of hospital flow, ensuring the efficient management of patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Manage the Clinical Site Team, Specialist complex discharge and Discharge Lounge Team's, ensuring operational effectiveness and patient safety.
  • Work closely with the Frimley System Discharge and Flow Lead including the collaboration of Transfer of Care Hub 'IRIS' and NHS England  to align hospital flow with wider system strategies.
  • Act as an outward-facing representative, collaborating with external system partners to improve capacity planning and discharge pathways across health and social care.
  • Implement proactive strategies to manage bed capacity, reduce delays, and ensure safe discharge planning.
  • Use clinical expertise to drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring high standards of care and operational efficiency.
  • Provide senior decision-making support in managing site escalation and flow during times of increased demand.
