Job overview
We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking Physiotherapist to join our Acute Medicine team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual eager to enhance both their clinical expertise and leadership skills within a supportive and dynamic environment.
Our Physiotherapy Department is committed to advancing the role of physiotherapy in acute care. Under the mentorship of experienced Band 7's, you will receive strong guidance, career development opportunities, and a culture that fosters excellence, innovation, and continuous professional development (CPD).
The team together covers our Emergency department, SDEC areas and our Acute Medical Units (AMU). Working closely with our Occupational Therapy colleagues across all areas.
As a senior clinician, you will play a key role in:
- Supervising, educating, and appraising physiotherapists, support staff, and students.
- Leading and contributing to service development, ensuring high-quality patient care and innovation in practice.

Main duties of the job
- Deliver a high-quality physiotherapy service by assessing and treating patients with complex presentations
- Supervise and mentor newly qualified physiotherapists, technicians, assistants, and students while contributing to the education of multidisciplinary team (MDT) staff
- Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) and actively participate in departmental activities
- Take part in the weekend and on-call service as required
- Weekend working commitments will be determined based on service demands

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- HCPC Registration
- Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy
Desirable criteria
- Member of relevant clinical interest group (E.g. ACPRC)
- CSP member
Experience
Essential criteria
- Completion of band 5 rotations. This includes experience in the relevant clinical areas, General Medicine, Orthopaedics, Surgical/ICU, Elderly Care, Neuro, Outpatients.
- Relevant Acute Medicine postgrad NHS experience
- Multidisciplinary working.
- Training and supervision to support all physiotherapy staff and students.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of research
- Band 6 Acute Medicine Experience
- Experience in development of a project or service.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Sound knowledge of physiotherapy in the relevant area
- Interpersonal skills including clear, concise and effective verbal and written reports.
- Computer literacy.
- Organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure with a variable caseload.
- Basic management skills.
Desirable criteria
- Facilitation skills
- Supervisory and appraisal skills.
- Teaching skills.
