Tuberculosis Specialist Nurse

Band 6

Job overview

Band 6 TB Specialist Nurse (Sister/Charge Nurse)

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dedicated Tuberculosis (TB) service. We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for delivering high-quality care, education, and support to patients affected by TB.

This is a varied and rewarding role, primarily based within community and outpatient settings, with occasional responsibilities within the acute hospital environment. As a key member of our specialist team, you will play a vital role in promoting health, providing treatment, and supporting patients through their TB journey.

We are looking for a senior registered nurse to step into this Band 6 TB Specialist Nurse role. You should have a solid background in acute medical nursing and be committed to further professional development and training. A full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential, as community visits and outpatient clinics are a core part of the role.

While previous experience in TB nursing and a relevant degree in acute or critical care are desirable, they are not essential. Comprehensive training and support will be provided to the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual patient care in the community without direct supervision.

  • To deputise for senior TB nurse in their absence
  • Contact tracing for all TB cases
  • To work with senior TB nurse to help improve the TB services.
  • Improving knowledge within communities in the local area most affected by TB
  • Supervising directly observed therapy when required
