Job overview

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Appointments Office based in Swansea Bay University Headquarters Baglan in the role of Appointment Office Hub Co-ordinator. This is an office based role.

The Outpatient Appointments Office is responsible for the provision of an effective patient focused service in respect of referral management, appointments reception and waiting list management.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will be expected to maintain and plan appropriate cover for all clerical roles within all areas and to provide a high quality service to patients and users of the service.

The post holder will assist the Hub Leader in the efficient day to day operation of the department ensuring that all tasks are carried out to the required standards and in accordance with Health Board Policies.  The post holder will have to be able to communicate effectively with staff groups and patients.  The successful candidate will also collate information for reports.  The role will involve the validation of waiting lists.

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSE Passes or equivalent and/or relevant experience
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience acquired through a Patient Administration or Health Records role
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within a Outpatients / Appointments environment
  • Computer literate
  • Customer service training
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Experience of implementing change

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of staff and public both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of WPAS
  • Microsoft Office Skills
