Job overview

A new opportunity has arisen to join a busy Cancer Performance and Information team.  The post holder will be based at Morriston Hospital but will need to attend Singleton Hospital regularly, working as part of a team responsible for improved cancer performance and information.  We are looking for a motivated, organised individual with an exceptional eye for detail.

The post holder will provide advice on collection, extraction, interpretation and presentation of cancer performance data, supporting Service Groups in monitoring and tracking cancer patients, utilising Cancer Tracker, CIS and Cancer Dashboard to demonstrate performance and patient care.

The post holder must be proficient in Excel as the application is used extensively within the department.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Manage the Cancer MDT Coordinators/Cancer Trackers on a day-to-day basis to ensure that the cancer tracker systems are accurate, complete and up to date in order to be analysed by the Cancer Information Team and reports to be submitted are of a high standard.  To provide front line management of annual leave and sickness and undertake annual appraisal of the Cancer MDT Coordinators/Cancer Trackers. 

Support the induction and training programme for staff within the department.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Degree level or able to demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Computer Literate – competent in Microsoft Office applications, word-processing, spreadsheet, database and desk-top publishing
  • Previous NHS background working in an administrative/clerical role
  • Working with clinical teams
  • Working experience within a cancer performance and/or information team
  • Experience in an NHS Informatics department
  • Data collection and validation experience
  • Database user (input & output)
Desirable criteria
  • Management Qualification
  • Working knowledge of cancer datasets and cancer data standards
  • Clinical audit/ audit background
  • Clinical Coding Experience
