Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated and dynamic advanced clinical practitioner team within Neath Port Talbot Hospital. NPTH specialises in stroke, rehabilitation and various surgical specialities including an expanding orthopaedic centre of excellence. We are looking for someone who wants to work as a team to ensure we continue to develop and excel the nurse practitioner role.
The role will be predominately based in NPTH out of hours but there may be times when the post holder will be required to cover days Monday - Friday 9am -5pm and cover Singleton Hospital site.
This post is advertised as a band 7, however applicants who do not currently hold all the necessary competencies are encouraged to apply and if successful will be appointed under Annex 21 rules. It will be a condition of appointment that the required qualifications are achieved. Where situations arise that post holders fail to achieve the required qualifications in the designated timeframes, the service may look to redeploy individuals.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties
· Provide clinical assessment using advanced knowledge and clinical skills, to provide diagnoses both differentiated and undifferentiated patients, and develop management plans for optimal care. This will include clinical skills such as venepuncture, cannulation, catheterisation and blood gas analysis.
· Effectively manages organisational functions and resources within the hospital out of hours.
· Participate in research related to area of practice provide and education/mentorship to a multi-professional audience within the University Health Board.
· Provides specialist education and training to other staff, students, patients and carers.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Professional registration (NMC,HCPC)
- In receipt of Level 7 Education (master’s degree) relevant to area of practice or equivalent experience
- Specialist knowledge of patient pathways.
- Advanced theoretical knowledge and practical experience to carry out clinical consultation and/or examination relevant to area of practice.
- In receipt of or working toward Independent Prescribing qualification (if required for role).
- In receipt or working toward Independent Authorisation of Blood Products (desirable if relevant to role)
- Evidence of maintaining an Advanced Clinical Practice portfolio.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Post registration clinical experience in practice within speciality area.
- Experience in staff management and professional development
- Experience in audit, QIP and research processes
- Experience in leading change in clinical practice
- Experience of teaching multiprofessional staff
